How to Develop Personal Style (Part I)
Personal Style. Where does it come from? How can you obtain it? Can you grab it off Aisle 12 next to the frozen yogurt? Well, I know one thing is for certain, you cannot grab it off Aisle 12! As far as answering the other two questions I can definitely help! Having your own personal style is a lot simpler than what you might think. It does take some hard work and getting use to but in the end it’s as simple and delicious as pie!
My own personal style is developed from how I truly am. I like variety in everything, I like to have choices. When it comes to food, wine, tv shows, just everything. The way I dress is no different. But this isn’t about me, this is about you and how I can you help you develop a personal style. So let’s jump right in!
How do you want look? It’s a simple question and it’ll give you all the answers you’ll need from here on out. Do you want more of an urban look or would you prefer a more sophisticated look. However you want to look you have to envision that style first. For me, personally, I envision something new for me each day and I try my hardest to follow that vision when i’m dressing myself.
2 Visual Aids
If envisioning how you want to look isn’t your “thing” then take the time out to look for visual aids. They can help guide you on what the style you’e looking for looks like in general. With visual aids, Google can be your bestfriend! Use the search engine and go crazy and don’t be shy either. If you really want to have a certain style, take the time and look at more than just one picture. Get some ideas and jot them down (if you would like).
My favorite visaul aids come from the social media app Pinterest! I have hundreds of boards dedicated to fashion and different styles. It helps when your have a creative block.
Now that you know what type of style you’re looking to get into, it’s time to do your homework. Find out what type of clothing and accessories make up this style. Doing thorough research on the style that you want to achieve will help you out tremendously in the long run. It will teach you not to cut corners when it comes to putting your style together and also make you look like a pro when talking about your style.
Here are some outfits of my personal style
With envisioning, visual aids and researching the main thing to remember is have fun! This is a process like everything else. It might come to you over night but then again, it might not.
